Default best "top speed" platform

Hey guys, recently i've been thinking of putting together a high speed buggy to just play around with. I'm looking for input on what has been done, what worked and what didn't etc. I was thinking first of a 1/8 caster platform and running the new mamba hv on 8s but motor selection is limited in that setup, then i started thinking a light 2wd 1/10 buggy with a low turn motor might be the trick. Just looking for some general guidence of what to stay away from and which would be the best direction to spend $$$. thanks

You can run like a Revo or something for a monster truck or a summit. Remember the faster you go the more parts you will break. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

I would go for a 1/8 buggy-based sedan like the Ofna GTP2e or DM-1 Spec (converted to electric).

Holy sh*t! That's a big pinion!!! And I like the bodyfications to improve the airflow.

I a 1/8th scale pancar will go faster than a buggy.

thanks b4maz for the link, some very good ideas over there, i too was thinking of a 1/8 on road car like this, http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Racing-Car-Kit, i really like the bodies those cars use, and they are designed for high speed. I'm pretty set on a rx8/2650 t8 for power and using bigger lipos for short periods of time to keep heat down. My only hesitation is for some sick reason i want this thing to jump. But i'm beginning to think at these speeds once it comes down it will become many pieces.
