Hey Guys, Im looking at Purcahsing either the Losi 22 RTR or the Losi 22 kit, which one should i go for?
If i go for the kit what other parts should i buy which are going to be best for racing, such as battery, frequency radio system, Electronic speed control, R/C electric motor and Pinion gear
There is a certain finesse that's involved with wheeling a 2wd buggy. They are very easy to overdrive and most of the time the old "slower is faster" saying holds true with them.
Tires are very important. I would suggest asking the fastest 2wd buggy drivers at your track what tires/inserts/sauce they use and start with that combo. If you have the wrong tires on your car it can make it very hard to drive. I have never run any panther tires but I would guess that if your track is an indoor clay track that they would be ok, they are a similar tread pattern to the JC V2 Barcode, AKA Handlebar, PL Suburb.
If you do need some more rear traction there are a couple things you can try; increase rear toe to 3.5*, try adding a little bit of camber gain, moving the rear shock to the outside hole on the bottom arm(if you do this you will need to unscrew the shock eyelet 2-3 turns to keep the droop the same) With this the rear end will dump less.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, driving a 2wd buggy is a far cry from the 8th scale 4wd cars I normally run. It takes some getting used to.

I ran the Dustin Evans Reedy setup for the first time. I like it, but the back end gets loose on high speed cornering. I'm wondering if maybe it's the tires. I'm using Panther Rattler Clay tires. Anyone have any experience with these tires?
Of course, I may just be going too fast. I don't know, because I don't have much experience with 2wd buggy. I don't know how hard you are able to push these cars.
Are your rattlers brand new?... I just got some to test out along with the panther inserts as well. I'm three packs into breaking them in and they're less traction than my barcodes. Perhaps I got a few more packs to run on them before they start to get sticky

Yeah, pretty new. Only the second time used at the track. I'm using the red AKA inserts though. I think I'm going to get a pair of bar codes to compare to.

Yea definitely give the bar codes a try along with the aka inserts. Can't go wrong with that combo

If you plan on racing your way better off going with the Kit. You will save a lot of money.
The stock electronics will only suffice for a few weeks, until your skill progress and you will soon find yourself installing new servo, ESC, and appropriate motor.

The stock electronics come with a sensored 13.5 system that is pretty good. The servo is not great, but you can pickup a d770 from Hobbypartz or one of the Protek inexpensive servos for like $35 with free shipping. The rtr is a fine car, it just has gear diff.

Yes the rtr is an amazing car. That is what my 22 started out life as.
Down here in the Outback a lot of drivers have been running the gear diff with good success. We drive in less than ideal track conditions at times and it is one less thing that we have to worry about failing on race day. Not that there are normally any breakages with the 22. They are bullet proof.
i just pick up one of these from a friend and now need a esc and motor combo.
i already have a speed passion for my ebuggy and am very happy with it, so i would like to stick with them.. can some one recomend which on to do with ? and as far a motors i am lost! please help
