I'm no expert by any means but if your referring to the sidewinder esc. The 3800 is made for specifically for sct's and comes with a matching sidewinder esc for sc trucks. the 4600 combo comes with a sidewinder esc as well but is made for 10th scale models such as the rustler, stampede etc. shortcourse trucks weigh more than these.

I'd stick with the lower kv if you're racing on a track. My buddy had the 4600kv in his sc10 and we couldnt keep it cool, no matter what gears were run.

I have to say, the new sidewinder SCT system is really impressive. I bought a hyper sc10 that has it and wow, it has good power, is very efficient, and runs ice cold even with the timing turned up all the way etc. The ESC is really good too. It is absolutely unbeatable for the price. The 4 pole motor is incredible.
