Novak Hammer Pro HELP!
Hi I just got an HPI RS4 MT off ebay and I'm hoping i didn't get shafted.
It has a Novak Hammer Pro ESC.
When I power it on it comes up immediately with a solid red LED. Pushing the button, holding the button, turning on/off controller doesn't change anything. I have the novak hammer manual but it doesn't have info for this.
Any ideas for an anxious newbie....pleeeeeeeeeease?

It's a really old brushed ESC, contact Novak to see what they can do to help, they have an upgrade program where you can apply almost any old Novak ESC to a newer brushless one.

What we can do for Novak customers with an obsolete controller is offer an upgrade to a new esc; with our Upgrade program, you can return any Novak esc (brush or brushless) and upgrade to a current controller:
TeamNovak ESC Trade-In program
However, we no longer manufacture brush, racing controllers. And, we no longer design brush/brushless racing escs, only BL. We do make brush Crawler controllers.

wow, novak has awesome customer service.
Got it working..Turns out the crystal contacts had corrosion.
Just a quick question....does this have reverse??

I just looked at the instruction sheet and see no reverse info; years ago, racing controllers could not use reverse, so our early racing escs were forward only.

Thanks for your help. I'm look into the upgrade options.
Again- I just got my HPI RS4 MT in the mail today. It needed a lot of TLC but it flies now!
After having to fab a few broken parts, letting out a lot of curse words and 3 bleeding fingers I got this thing haulin!
I can't believe how fast it is for a monster truck some 15 years old. It actually looks more like a large on-road car, but when it's jumping UP curbs you can tell it's an MT.
I'm a fan of the old school 80's stuff (hornet/frog/etc...) so this is about as modern as I'll go. Just going to have a rough time finding parts...especially belts, from what I hear .
