Ok, cool....you running the 5.5 or the 4.5??? I am thinking of getting one or the other and if I dont like it I can always get another stator. Looks nice and smooth on the track. Good Job!

It's a 5.5. Decent power, decent torque. Depending on how big your track is will determan what motor you will need.

My local track is at Mikes Hobby Shop in Carrollton Texas. They have a web page and you can click on the live track cam and it will show you the track.

Some are running 5.5 and others are using 6.5 540 motors I think a couple are using the 4.5 I would rather have to much than not enough, but that is the great thing about these 550 Novak's....you can make the 4.5 a 5.5 with a 45 dollar part instead of buying both motors.

A 6.5 540 motor is going to be faster than a 5.5 550. It won't have the torque but will have the power.

To much power will get you into trouble if nit used correctly.

well mine is all done just waiting on the body to get painted.here are some pics. i put in a tekin rs/redline 8.5 and a hitec 7950(its a monster but all i have) and a thunder power 5000mah 40c. the 8.5 should be plenty with the small indoor track.

Would a Sidewinder/5700/2s be sufficiant on a relatively flatish outdoor track? I got one of these coming and was trying to seell the sidewinder combo to buy a 550 novak but I can hardly give it away so I guess I'll just put it in there and run it. With this thing being over apound lighter than the 10sc I guess it should be OK until next summer when the temps get high and then I'll have to dump the Castle motor for sure.

you should be fine with that combo just gear it right and watch the temps. i keep hearing that people have issues with the mambas getting to hot but havent heard about them in this truck yet

I got some 17mm hexes on the way and some 1/8 Truggy wheels with 1/2" offset. I put the roller on a real diet by pulling all the plastics and drilling about 100 holes in the chassis. I drilled in places that could afford it without giving too much on the integrity of the strength. I can't afford a 550 setup right now so I'll be maintaining the Vxl on 11T. The weight I removed from it will balance back out to normal with the added extra weight of the Truggy tires. So weight is about the same as normal but its final drive will be geared up since the wheels are taller. I'm guessing it will be about equivlant to running a 4.5T on SC tires. Basically I would classify this Truggy as a 1/9th scale. Just for the hell of it I'm going to throw it in with the 1/8 truggies this weekend and see how she does. Yes its got less torque than they do but it also weighs substantially less.

I was trying to post a pic of the drilled chassis but the pic thing isn't working on the site's end right now.
Side by side with RC8Te

Those look like monster truck wheels/tires on the TT, if so, then a 540 motor will probably have heat issues due to the load as you may not be able to put a small enough pinion on it to make up for the low torque motor and big tires.

Its just Offset truggies. Its not a TT, its a Hyper 10sc. I have Vxl in it right now. Plans are for a 550 soon. Cool day here so I think I can try it with the Vxl for now. Got packs charging right now. I'll post how it does in alittle bit. Its alittle shorter and narrower than the RC8Te but thats to be expected. I dropped SC so may as well play around with whats left over.
