Sorry im new at the whole brushless thing and everything i have bought has been a matched combo so far lol. Please excuse my ignorance in other words. ANd thank you for those calculations!
Im not looking for crazy fast. I would be very happy with 40-45 mph tops! SO im thinking like a 4600kv motor???

So do you think the 6T tacon 5900kv will work good in this truck with a 14t pinion on 2s? If not what do i need to look for in a smaller pinion as i know it takes a different pitch than im used to... Thanks!

Yes, I know...they have been out of the batteries that I want to try for over a month now! So I ordered some el'chepos from leadershobby and have been pretty happy with their performance.

Have you checked the FS section on here...sometimes you can find a pretty good deal.

If you find something a sensored setup will be alot better...IMO

If i get the 5900kv and drop it down to say 12P can i run that on the treet and short grass/gravel without overheating issues?? Or would i be better getting a large pinion for my 3500kv? Thanks all!

Well, anything that puts an extra load on the motor will cause it to heat up faster. If it is geared right they both should be fine....

But, it really depends on what you want to use as far as batteries go....2S are lighter and can give you what you need but, you will need the correct motor for speed. 3S are heavier but, can run cooler than a 2s set up. If you bash it really does not matter, so long as it is setup correctly.

Some one else will chime in...I am sure and give their opinion too.

Hope this helped.
Have a good day.

just a quick few Qs for a soon to be owner:

i understand it has been discussed here often but hope you can help with a quick answer to below:
1. which parts should be boiled?
- so does this means kit will have to be stripped down and disassembled?
2. how long will parts be need to be boiled?
- do you a.) dip the parts and boil or b/) boil n dip?
- when does time count start?

from what I've read, it's get the water boiling then put the parts in for 30-45 min. I'm going to try it with steering knuckles

Yes you need to take apart. I boiled all the arms, front knuckles, rear hubs, and bumpers.

+1 on that. Buy a T-Bone bumper as well, you can't go wrong with one of those. Dang near unbreakable. They are money well spent.
