Assuming the outdrives, CVD's and front'rear drives shafts are all in fair shape I would look at the diffs. Have you had them apart or do they just feel ok?

I'm no expert and don't even own a B44 but i'm guessing its where the shaft meets the diff, probably needs a few shims to stop the movement. Had this problem in another car I have.

If it's when you hit the brakes it's probably the front diff gears. One of the teeth is probably broken. No big deal. Just rebuild it and check that the diff is shimmed so the gears of very little play when you put it back together.
As long as it's apart you might as well change the diff balls and thrust balls and rings and washers. You don't have to, but if you don't at least take it all apart in there and clean it up and re lube it.

For future reference, when the gears give out in front you will generally hear it more on the brakes and if the rear gears go out you will hear it when you give it hard throttle.
