Default HPI Vorza or Hot Bodies VE8?

Which of these two do you guys like better? They'll end up about the same cost by the time I add all the stuff the VE8 doesn't come with.

I've got both. I tried racing my Vorza, and it can be raced as easy as any other buggy. Biggest challenged I faced with it is figuring out the setup, but I'm very new to RC, so that would have been the case with anything.

Comparing them, the Ve8 is more a purpose built racer and the Vorza is more of a basher. But, they are very much the same other than the chassis and layout of the electronics. Personally, I really really don't like the stock layout of the Ve8 chassis. The motor is in a good place, but they really should have put the battery on the right side, and the ESC on the left. I also don't like the center diff on the Ve8 and being stuck with only a 50t metal spur option. The center diff is unique on the Ve8, and is not the same on the other HB/HPI stuff.

My Ve8 came with a HHH aluminum chassis (I got the buggy used). I like it way better with this chassis than I do my Vorza. Mainly because it seems to handle better right out of the box with this chassis than the Vorza did.

Another thing to consider is the Vorza has dog bones instead of CVDs. The only CVDs are on the front axles. The motor mount on the Vorza is not ideal either, and I'd recommend changing it. The Vorza is a tank though, and it takes a ton of abuse.

Vorza is a HEAVY beast... can you race it.. yup. Will you win against good drivers with good setups.. most likely no. The ve8 is a little fragile in it's stock state, and has some setup limitations w/ battery size so know what your setup is going to be first. Look at the HHH chassis if you are racing a ve8, makes it a top choice IMO.

I'd go for the new losi 8 2.0 e-roller first choice, second choice the rc8b for stock rollers. But for me any tekno conversion would be my top choice.

I would go with the ve8 and then buy the aluminum skids.The chassis has been updated so there is no more breakage like the first chassis.

VE8 hands down...

I ran mine with the old chassis and aluminum skids.. and now have an HHH on the way for it to try out.

I own and race a Vorza and love it. With that being said, I am looking to buy a Ve8 for next season. The Vorza is a good racer and I have had a few people drive it at the track and they now respect it. I am just going to try to get to the next level.
Vorza = Intermediate club racer
Ve8 = Passes me alot (yzracer758)
Guess I am going to join the club.

Ok so it looks like the Ve8 is the favorite. What's up with the battery tray then? I'm going to be using HobbyKing Zippy batteries and will most likely be running 2 3s batteries. What's going to fit?

Go with Turnigy rather than Zippy. Also make sure if your buying used, to get a Ve8 with the updated chassis

Apart from the spur gear, all of the center diff parts are exactly the same between the D8, D8T and Ve8
