Default Stampede at the track, now so good

My son and I went to the track for the first time today and had a good time but our Stampedes spent most of the time upside down. I know Stampedes are not made for the track but is there anything we can do to make them a bit less top heavy for just track fun runs?

I saw an RC8Be running around the track and boy was it fast, I can't wait to get mine finished and ready to run.

My son is only 9 years old but if he shows more interest I may get him a Slash for Christmas since there were a lot of them running today and they look like they are really run to drive on the track.

its like tryin to make a big rig run at laguna seca, not much you could do....maybe dropping the ride height, but that thing so top heavy dont think its gonna make a big difference, maybe try to lower the center of gravity if possible..good luck

You might want to look at this, http://www.ultimatetraxxas.com/proje...ede/phase2.php,
this site was really helpful to me, specifically under chassis batterey mounting.

I originally bought my stepson a Stampede thinking he'd want to bash out doors with it. Then we went to a race night, and we havn't looked back since. Had him racing novice, but basically ended up turning his pede into a Slash piece by piece, and after it was all said and done could've had 2 trucks. Now he races with the big boys in SC...

Best thing you can do for the pede, slash rims/tires, and put the slash rear arms on it for some rear toe in. It'll snowball from there trust me lol...

you could buy a rustler chassis and body and make it a stadium truck.

Adjust the shock positions and limit the suspension to make the arms as close to level as possible, then some better wheels and tires to suit the track. And adjust the camber and toe in rather than the stock stuff and you should have a decent start.

I wouldn't put a penny into the stampede... instead go for a new or used short course truck or a stadium truck.. what ever class is big at your track. Racing is the best way to practice.. pay the few bucks and have an entire field of marshalls while you improve

PS dont buy traxxas vehicles for racing, even if you swap your pede to a rustler it will still be aweful. Grab a t4.1 or xxxt for stadiums, sc10, blitz and other SC's are great as well.

I agree with not putting money into a Pede to make it raceable but if you decide to making it wider and lower, Putting limiters in the shocks and this widening kit will help: http://www.rcdirectonline.com/produc...FLM-24900.html

It doesn't take much to convert them to a Slash though so you may consider it.

As others have mentioned, the pede really isn't meant for racing. But if you have more time than money or just like tinkering, there are a few cheap things you can do to improve handling. As others have mentioned, putting limiters in the shocks will lower your ride height. You can widen the track with the FLM kit mentioned above, or you can just get some extended hubs, or high-offset wheels. You can add a couple inches of length with one of the extended chassis, or you can DIY something like this for a similar result. Any/all of those modifications will help handling substantially.
