With current batteries a 7.5 is enough for any contition or track, a timing speed control is not needed. 8.5 would probably get it done too, 6.5 was a little too much back when I ran a 15c battery.

it really defends on track surface and size, i run a small indoor track with very very high bite in the winter and 13.5 or 10.5 is plenty, in the summer i run a large outdoor track thats usually kinda dusty and 10.5 to 8.5 is plenty.
if you run a large track with high bite i would prob run a 8.5, maybe a 7.5 if the 8.5 isnt enough ( the track would have to be really big)
