Need help - SPX8 ESC with a Castle BEC?
Has anyone used a Castle BEC to power the SPX8? I want to be able to use a 4S battery and my 2 2S battery set up and I don't want to be tapping into individual cells to power the ESC.
How is the SPX8 wired up to an external BEC? I've seen some conflicting posts between here and the LRP site. I seem to have seen some reference here that the SPX8 works with external BECs but I also saw some posts at the LRP site that they smoked their SPX8 when using an external BEC.
Also, are there other BEC out there that are better than the Castle?

for now, try not to run it with a Seporate BEC connection,in a couple of tests we did they "Smoked the controler"
my self i am working with another vendor to make a Step down voltage device so you can just "Plug It" in to get rid of "Taping" into a 3 or 4S packs tap input,so the "Voltage Drop" is across the entire pack and not across a "Tap" and over 2cells in the pack....
so all you have to do is plug your battery to your pack as usual
the device being small enough can mount anywhere bout size of maybe little less than a "Penny" not weight but "Size",then just solder the "One" wire to the Device, it will be one of those install it and "Forget it" things.......
so like "Every Other Controler" on the market, you can have the freedom to just "Plug in your Batteries" and turn on the switch...
with 2S-3S-or 4S.......
and shooting for a price range of 5.00 to 7.00 for the device, a nice thing to note early tests, seems to be holding great, and weighs about 3.8 grams.
early runs with the Castle BEC worked pretty well but they began to "Glitch" causing the controler to "Stop"
and were not sure if there is any "Relevance" to this but we did notice one thing? the temps "DROPED" by 15 to 19 deg while we been using this, and checked with a Exergen temp probe.
this was using the LRP SPX8 with a LRP Vector8 2800kv motor
something we used to notice would stay around 180 to 190+ degs
regardelss of gearing....seems to "Hover" at 165 on 15 minute runs.
