How to make 20 minutes with a 1/8 E-buggy.
So I know the way most guy's are doing it is by running 6 cells with a low kv motor. I would like to do it with the motors and batteries I already have. My question is can I safely use my Hyperion 6500 mah 4 cell with a TP 5000 mah 2 cell pack wired in paralell to efectively give me a 4 cell pack with 9000 mah?
Thanks for your help.

I am pretty sure that is a no go, the 2s will run out of juice way before the
4s will and may damage the cell's.
I would try to get 2 4000mah 3s and run them in parallel so then you will have a 8000mah 3s.
I tried to run 2 2s in parrallel one being 5200mah and the other being a 4500mah and damn near ruined the smaller of the 2 batteries.

Making 20 mins also depends on the track. If you have a fast and open then mostly like you will be not make it. Also gearing is a big factor in making the 20 min.
I make 20 mins in my losi truggy running a 4 cell 5800mah. It also depends on the driving style.
I dont think about you can run that battery setup but honestly I dont know.

That things gonna be heavy, its all in track size and driving style, I can barely make 15 min. and another guy with exact same setup can get 20, goes to show. Good luck

Umm...NO. Its not black magic its basic ohm's law. parallel adds the capacity. i.e. 2 7.4v 5000mah packs parallel is 7.4v 10000mah.
Series adds the voltage. 2 7.4v 5000mah packs series is 14.8v 5000mah.
Run a low kv motor. I run a 1700 kv motor geared the same as nitro on 4 cells. If it came with a 15 tooth clutch bell, run a 15 tooth pinion. The speed will be real close between nitro and electric but you will still have way more grunt outta the corners and you will see the 20 minute runtimes you are looking for.

1700-2000kv and a maxamps 4s 8000 will do it easy. Or drive with some restraint and use their 6500 pack. These bigger packs add a bit of weight, but then... some run a truggy size motor which also adds weight, and think nothing of it.

Thanks for your help.
PS never pair two packs that don't match, your asking for issues. When you parallel packs they must match (voltage and all) Keep in mind our ESC's can ONLY READ pack voltage not cell voltage.

i am using a 5400, as is the other guy that can make 20min, maxamps 6500 is $279, couldnt imagine the 8000 didnt know they made one

The hyperion g3 6500 is as good if not better for just about 1/2 the price of that ma 6500 pack (most say hyperion g3 are the best you can buy) but I've never run the ma 6500 myself to compare.
