Default RC8Te

So I am planning on purchasing a RC8T and converting it or a Te if i can find one. So I'm looking at a Tekin RX8 ESC and I'm a little unsure what motor i should get. I'm most likely going to running on a track thats pretty big with allot of big jumps, i know different gearing can do allot for me but still would like to get the right motor to start with.

Thanks for any help!!!

I just got an RC8Te a few weeks ago. I love it. I run the Castle MMM with the 2200kv motor. It's a beast. If you are going with Tekin and running at a big track you will probably want the 2000kv or maybe 1700kv on 4S. The 1700kv will get you more run time though. If you are going to run 5S or 6S, then go with the 1550kv or 1350kv.

Regarding the Motor sizes, I'm a little confused.

I just ordered the RX8 with the 2250kv motor. Am I correct in saying the higher the kv, the more power the motor has?

If so, why are folks going with the lower kv motors? Did I buy the wrong motor?

kv is kind of weird unit but it really means RPM per volt. 2250kV doesn't necessarily have more power than a 2050kV, just rotates at a higher RPM. You just have to gear them appropriately. Lower kv motors with high voltage batteries (5/6S) are more efficient because you are generating equivalent power at lower current (Voltage x Current = Watts).

I originally intended to run CC Monster but with Tekin offering a military discount i figured if they support me ill support them kinda thing. So i guess the
TT2362 4038 1700kv
TT2363 4038 1550kv

will be a good choice then.

You're in the military? I totally respect you guys. Thanks for your service. A 1700kv on 5S would probably be a monster at your track.

Im running 1550 with 4 cells and its perfect with the rx8. Sold the 2200kv as it easily over powered the truck. Your better buying a lower kv motor and putting more voltage to it, than you are putting less voltage to a higher kv motor.

You can get 5mm Mod1 pinions at just about any hobby shop. Here are some at AmainHobbies.com. Just make sure you loctite the set screw before you run it.

My favorite motor on 4s is the 2000kv followed by the 1700. The 2000 is great onl 95% of the tracks. The 1700 is good if the track is slippery.
