Default Kyosho Lazer ZX5 SP Thread

Hi all, just thought Ide post a thread to chat with those that still run the Famous SP even though the FS and FS2 are out and doing remarkably well.!

Many of us still enjoy the stability and easy driving and tuning found on the SP.

If you have great tips and setups...Please Post here !

Personally I have found my own SP to drive easier while attaining ALOT of steering in comparison to an FS...no struggle to acheive traction issues. But just my .02

I do covet the FS, but something about the SP, just cant get rid of it !

I like my SP but eventually I will probably go with the FS I just like the fact that I don't have to buy saddle packs for a while .

I hear that ! All great 4WD, its nice that all three can be tuned to your liking, I just find that the SP is less worrying about rear traction. Depending on track.

I find my sp perfect for my tight, low traction track, turns and jumps great
with lots of traction, the only thing is that on sandy tracks the spur can
get lots of small pebbles on it!

I am picking one of these up this weekend and am going to need to know a little bit about drivetrain gearing for a 10.5 ballistic and a speed passion 2.0. Do you run diff weights for different gearing and motors. The track I'm running on is a red dirt track( not clay) are there under trays available?

Gearing a 10.5, you can start with a 25/26 pinion. Thats what we were running in the past. Just monitor your heat.

Which SP ESC you have, what program are you using, 528 or stock ? That ESC is awesome for 10.5 motors. I use it with an 8.5

Not sure what you are reffering to as far as DIFF WEIGHTS?

You can make an undertray, as many do, just cut one out, some people modify a b44 undertray as well.

Its a 2.0 pro, I was reffering to the fluids that go In the diff case. I am only running the 422. I have not figured put 528 yet.. Lol 422 is great for 10.5 in my sedan.

I wad referring to the fluid insidecthe diff cases. I am actually using the 422 firmware. I'm not liking the 528 at the moment. It's a blue pro.

With a 10.5, you should use the 528 stock. Or if you want smoother modulation, use the 528 MOD. It is smoother and allows cooler running motor as well. But if you have better success with 422, then whatever works !

As far as the diffs, Im not sure why you have gear diffs, this thread is for ZX5 SP, and front and rear are ball diffs.

Skinny... on a car I had back in the day I modded a jconcepts undertray to fit. Team Azarashi <sp?> makes a body with under tray as well.
