Default What is the best 1/8th scale buggy?

I'm still learning the names of these things...thinking about getting one.

I want a tough basher. (electric)

What would you choose:
-Mugen Mbx (E conversion)
-Losi 8ight E
-Ofna
-Xray
-other

They are all good, but for bashing you don't need an $800 Losi 8ight-E. I would recommend geting the cheaper HPI RTR Vorza, Kyosho Inferno RTR or something similar. They are more reasonably priced for what you want to do.

Default +1 for the vorza

+1 for the vorza for being a top level basher and awesome racer.

Buggies aren't going to bash for long. Too fast, too low. Even the Vorza is insane fast. With way more horsepower than my racers for sure. At least get a truggy.

But the best RACERS are:
Xray 810
Mugen 6
Kyosho Mp9

Just as fast but not as nice:
Losi 8
Hotbodies D8

If your just bashing why go after such expensive machinery? Why not 4x4 Corr?

It's not the best but, if you wanna basher go pick up a brushless Red Cat backdraft. No point spending a lot of money for a quality car to beat the crap out of it.

The redcat's are pretty fast and durable for $300 RTR with lipos. I was going to buy one for my 4 year old to bash around with.

For bashing I'd take an E-revo brushless or a SC8E.

It may not be the greatest, but I'm also gonna recommend the Vorza since I own it

To be fair, it's amazingly tough. Got it run over, only the front shock tower was slightly bent, and one of the wheels cracked. Pretty amazing stuff.

I wouldn't recommend the E-Revo unless you plan to do some upgrades, I owned it previously to the Vorza, and just didn't like it at all - too... plasticky

I would get a E Revo for bashing. Monster trucks make better bashers and you can have more fun with them.

You can find good deals on many buggy's including the losi 8ights on the forums sell thread, also watch ebay. Funny enough I sold a 8ight 1.0 race roller last night to a guy for 125, figure 80 bucks for the conversion parts and snag a brushless system and all in for 400 or less depending on your choices for motor and esc.

PS any list and order of the race buggies that anyone posts is pure opinion, so take them all with a grain of salt. The top ones listed are all tanks though, so don't worry about bashing them. Keep in mind the ground clearance though, if you are on flats.. a buggy is great, if you are out in the woods etc something like a truggy or Monster Truck would provide more clearance.
