keeping dirt to stay on dirt tracks
for those of you who have been to, helped build, or built dirt tracks how do they keep the dirt in place and packed down on the jumps??? I have tried building dirt jumps but after a tank or two they seem to just fall apart. Whats the secret to building jumps, ripples, and banks that don't become just another pile of dirt?

Clay
We are using clay. With a bit of sand. The clay will harden if you pack it. When the clay is dry rent a plate packer, will work nice to shape the doubles and other jumps. They are usually very cheap to rent and this will pack the track very nicely. The sand mixture (not too much) will keep the clay from really hardening and balling up. It will keep it loose on the track. So for the jumps use only clay. It will pack and stay right there. For the track us clay with a bit of sand so it stays loose. Good luck

I have never built a r/c track, but I have built plenty of dirt bike tracks. The plate compactor & clay will most likely be your best bet. You may also want to build side braces out of plywood and "stake" them in place on the sides of the jump. Just make sure they are a little shorter than the actual jump.
