Oversize screw or put a nut on the other end if possible.

if it is just stripped a little, then:
drop a puddle of CA on the table.
get the end of a tooth pick VERY wet with the CA.
apply very thin coats of CA to the inside of the stripped hole (use as little CA at a time as possible but still get the hole wet).
let each coat completely dry
The more coats applied the tighter the hole will be.
Allow the CA to dry for as long as possible when done
re-thread the screw

CA is a very temporary band-aid, either replace the part that is stripped or use an oversized screw.
Now your done

this is only true assuming the screw is going into plastic then its a different story - but i don't remember any metal in there

Find someone who can insert a heli-coil.

I've used the CA trick before in places like that and its worked fine. Sometimes if you have the room in the hole, just a slightly longer screw will fix things.
I also use helicopils and they're best with metal parts. Same with the brass inserts that Tony sells - if you can't glue them in, they'll pull out after a few uses.
