The Slash 4x4 is prone too bearing failure at the center diff/slipper and when it happens it takes out the spur gear and the center diff case . Outside of that mine was pretty durable .

I used to have a slash 4x4 and all that ever happened to it was a stripped spur gear from running 3s, broken A arm, 2 bent rear stub axles, and a broken front bumper. Oh yeah also the stock body on the slash 4x4 will be toast after about 5 times of running and crashing it. But other than that i loved the slash 4x4 awesome truck, very durable and I only broke everything i listed above from december of last year when they came out to the first week of may this year.

It is actually Short COURSE. I had a Slash 4x4 and it was a blast to drive. The only problem I had with it were the axles, particularly the rear one's. They kept bending on me. That caused me to sell it prematurely. If you get a Slash, make sure you upgrade to the Tekno CVD kit for the rear. It will save you tons of grief. Aside from that issue, it's a great truck.

The slash 4x4 is great! Upgrade the center diff bearing with a higher quality bearing. The Tekno rear cvd's so far have been great, so it looks like those will solve the rear axle issue. If you buy it new with a clear body, you can sell it on ebay for about the same cost as a more durable JC or proline lid so it won't cost much to upgrade. After that, you'll want to start replacing the bearings...the stock traxxas ones have a bit to be desired in longevity. Overall, my slash 4x4 has been the most durable truck I've ever raced and is great on the track with a little tuning!!

I love my slash 4x4. I have had motor problems, esc problems, and the servo went bad in less then a month, but Traxxas replaced all those, no questions asked. Traxxas has great customer satisfaction and I am very pleased with them. As for the truck, I havent had anything broke, but I have also upgraded to Alum front and rear hubs, RPM A arms, MIP Shafts, Center Diff. I use mine just for racing though. I havent had the center diff bearing problem yet that I have heard of but my next upgrade is gonna be boca bearing for it. Hope this helps.

The only thing I have had to replace on mine was the bearing on the rear end of the drive shaft as mentioned.

Oh...and the body really does only last you a few runs.

Try the slash...when you want to go faster...

Go buy a Jammin and race to win, not race to be in the b main.

The Hyper 10SC is a tank and can handle pretty much anything you can dish out.
