ok thnx... it seems like they are the real Deans as i used them a second time and they just get a little hot... and yes i think he screwed them up a little when soldering because he was using a solder that was environmentally friendly or something and was hard to melt it...

Thats what that lead free solder will do for you - if you're going to use lead free, have to use a hotter iron. For what little exposure to fumes there really is, I use lead based solder.
