Default 2 xerun 80a escs or Xerun 4168SL 2250KV 80A combo?

well its been over 3 months since ive actually driven my slash drag truck from esc dieing left and right, not lasting more than a week each. i only have the vxl motor and i run onroad more than anything. Ive gone through 2 vxl escs, mamba max esc, and some cheesy one from a friend....they were all new except for my friends. now i have 200 buck and thats it for a VERY VERY LONG time so i really need this setup to last....hopefully all summer. so im askin you which should i get the 2 xerun 80a's or the Xerun 4168SL 2250KV 80A combo? im asking this becuase i dont know if its the vxl motor killing them off or just faulty equipment... but i remind you i dont have anymore cash for a long time so i want this to last. i heard the combo barely ever gets hot...which is nice but if that esc fails im done till january or febuary.

I always have to wonder when I hear about someone frying this many ESCs. It is more than likely not the equipments fault if it happens over and over and over.

For $200 and needing to last a very long time I would HIGHLY suggest getting a NIB MMM combo. Will probably need to borrow another few bucks but castle warranties them for a YEAR so you'll be good. Just make sure you buy one from an authorized dealer so you actually get the warranty. Ebay doesn't count. Or to be under the $200 mark get just the ESC and a solid motor like the Velineon.

If you're interested I'm a dealer and will give you one at cost + 5% just to help. With receipt for proof of purchase to be covered under warranty.
PM me if you're interested.

That motor is going to be too big I think to fit in the 2wd slash. It is a 1/8 motor. It might fit in the 4x4 slash, but not the two wheeler.

I have one of the combo's on the way and all I wanted was the motor. I'm gonna sell the ESC as I already have a xerun 150 waiting. If you want the 80amp'er I'll sell it for a bit less than you'd find online which is usually around $80 plus shipping.

I have had no problems with the xerun stuff that I have run, but I have very little time on the 1/8 scale stuff. From the reports here on the forum, they seem to hold up as well or better than the high dollar stuff sold from american companies.

With some minor shaving it will fit. I have personally tried without success but there is someone on this forum who has done it with a 2650kv in his 2wd. I just dont care enough to dig up the thread.

Well I hope it works out for you. That motor also has a 5mm shaft. What kind of spur gear does your slash have? I dont think that there are any 5mm 32 pitch pinions around either.

Just trying to save you the headache.

well i would of got the combo but i had bought 2 visa $100 cards and for some reason it wouldnt let me split the difference between like i have on other sites...so i had to get items under 100 with each card....i got that motor to see if the vxl motor was shorting out the esc's before or not....i would of loved to get the 2050kv or 2000kv...but they were $119 each and the combo was 198 shipped. is the 3665 sl with heatsink and fan that bad? im using 3s its all i have

you only need the 60amp system for a slash the 80 amp is for a 1/8 scale and it probably going to be difficult though not impossible to mount . i have seen the 60amp powering heavy e-revo with no problems ,, so a slash is a breeze

well thats the reason i went with the 80a it can take more abuse and voltage spikes, i couldnt figure what was killing off the escs i used so i wanted a better stronger more effiecaint esc. i can feather the trigger instead of hammering it, not over heating and toasting it becuase the esc/motor can get up and going easier

well that,s very true but if your going through lots of esc there must be a fault with the car or the motor you are using

yea the only thing left to change and find out is the motor, the vxl 3500, all setups used the same configuration besides pinion spur...changed them to keep temps down but still wasnt enough, i ran lower than stock all the way up to 24/50 trying to find a sweet spot. nothing helped so i guess its gotta be the motor.

The 3665SL motor with a fan will work fine. I have one in my E-Savage and it's my motor of choice (ran other motors in there before too).
