I'm using 2 venom pro chargers, ac/dc. Plugs right in at home and can attach to any car battery at the track. Also comes with every rc attachments known to man. Never had a problem with them. Heck, my batteries don't even get warm when charging. There are a lot of chargers that look similiar, but venom's have fans, where a lot of the cheap ones don't. Also venom customer service is pretty good.

I was looking at the Venom chargers, but I saw that there is a Pro Edition. Is that necessary to go Pro?

And the Lipo batteries will they all come with Traxxas connectors, or will I will need wire those myself?

Also which connector has the least resistance? I have used Tamiya and Deans before but never experienced with traxxas connectors.

Also last but not least, how many lipo batteries would you suggest I purchase and which ones (spec wise) I think I will be going with venom batteries.

I have updated my specs on the first page.

Default e revo

I've got 4 venom 2s 7.4 5000 mahs with 20c hard packs. Kinda lime green color. A main has them on for about $45 each. I suggest you get at least 4 to start. This way you have backups and don't have to wait to charge-up before continuing to play. The 2x 2s for the e-revo is plenty fast. Truck goes about 55 out of the box with these batteries. Any faster is really hard to handle. You could go up to 2 x 3s for insane power, but would probably break the car in two if you crashed. These batteries also come with traxxas, deans, and tamiya adapter plugs so you can run anything without having to solder.
In regards to the venom procharger, not sure what the pro model has that's different. It's only $10 more, you might as well get it.

hi the s stands for cells confusing i know .lol. ..."We use the designation 10C etc to mean how much a cell or pack can discharge in amps. C always equals the capacity of a cell or pack. For example. Let use a PQ31003S pack rated for 12C. In this case C=3100mah. the number before the "C" is the multiplier. so 12 x 3100 = 37200mah. to get amps we simply divide by 1000. 37200/1000 = 37.2 amps. 1000mah = 1amp. hope this helps

The S is the number of cells wired in series (wiring in series, causes voltage to add) as opposed to wired in parallel.

So a 2S is two 3.7v lipo cells wired in series so the voltage is 3.7+3.7 = 7.4v.

The C is the discharge capacity and its a rating for comparing lipo performance (amp output). Discharge capacity is a function of teh capcity (mah) and the discharge rating. A 5000mah 40C lipo can discharge 200amps on a continuous basis (5000/1000 x 40 = 200). This C is also used to rate charging for lipo as in a '1C charge rate' - for the same 5000mah lipo a 1C charge is 5000/1000 = 5amps. A 2C charge is 10amps and so on.

I did a lot of research before I purchased a charger. The Venom is a nice charger but it is the exact same charger as the Thunder AC-6 minus the fan. Is the fan needed? Nope, not at all. I have charger many batteries back to back and have had zero heat issues. A smarter choice would be to get the Thunder AC-6 and take the money you save and purchase some quality lipos.

All correct. But keep in mind, the discharge rate (25C, 40C, 30C etc.) is what the lipo CAN handle. NOT what it will put out.
So if you have a 5000mah 40C lipo it is capable of putting out 200 amps continuous as stated. But if your truck is only drawing 80 amps thats all it will do so basically its only using 40% of its potential. Say you have a 4000mah 25C in the same truck. It is capable of putting out 100 amps continuous. You are still only drawing 80 amps so either battery is more than adequate. You may notice a small performance increase with the 40C but IMO not enough to justify more than doubling the price in most cases.

As a rule of thumb, try to keep your vehicle demand at about 75% or less what your lipo is capable of doing CONTINUOUSLY. Don't get fooled by MaxAmps claims of "True 60C" garbage because that is their burst rate which can't be sustained for more than a few seconds.

Any place you guys recommend to purchase the E-Revo?

I have searched on Ebay and through ultimate hobbies and so far the best deal has been ebay for 660.00 shipped. I will just order (2) Venom Pro chargers and 4 lipos and call it a day!

If it is the latest and great E-Revo (with 2.5gHz and batteries) then that is a great price. I got mine locally for $669.99 plus tax. I only got that deal because the owner quoted me the old versions price.

Regarding the C rating of batteries: A high quality battery will back up their C rating with quality wire. A high discharge rate is useless traveling through low gauge wire. For 40C and up battery packs, you need a minimum of 12 gauge wire. A quality battery pack will have two C numbers; the continuous C rating (low number) and peak C rating (high number / normally double the low). The peak C rating is normally a 3 second burst.

Ended up purchasing an E-Revo!

I'm gonna use the stock radio for now but is there anything you recommend I purchase?

I know the Thunder Tiger charger is good but since it has been a year any other recommendations?

I've been running mine on Nimh for along time without problems. I just ordered a couple sets of matched race nimh packs. We race in the winter here and have had lots lipos go bad from the cold so we use Nimh alot. Haven't heard about frying the speedo from ripple current but I do remember seeing Castle say not to use Nimh. Funny because an E-revo comes with Nimh packs in the box. Haven't had problem yet though. I love driving the E-revo.

This cahrger has a better rep, has the same features as the Venom Pro charger you mentioned and costs about 1/2 as much -

http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html

The prob with NiMh is the connections between cells - if these are ordinary stick pacs, the wimpy piece of foil used between cells will not hold up. If the cells are put together using batt bars and are good cells, they'll do ok.
