Default Novak HV in 1/8 buggy

Anyone have experience running the Novak HV motors in a 1/8th buggy? Price wise they are awesome and according to the specs have more power than your average buggy motor with 3000 KV for the 7.5 up to 3700kv for the 5.5, Is there a reason no one is running them?

Search is your friend. There was another thread active a few weeks ago with almost exactly the same title. Find it and you will understand.

They run hot, and don't seem to last under the harsh conditions of 1/8 buggy racing.

They are garbage, as are the ESCs that are matched with them. You don't see ANY other manufacturer making > 3000kv motors for 1/8 scale vehicles because it's a terrible idea.
You are not able to run only 3S on the Novak HV ESC because if you hook up a single 11.1v lipo on one side you will blow it up and 14.8v on anything above 3000kv is ridiculous for any track.

They are cheap for a reason, nobody wants them. And nobody wants them because most people know they're garbage.

Now in comes Novaktwo to defend his company.

they were originally designed for 1/10th monster trucks. There are far better setups for 1/8th buggy

That is freakin hilarious, especially about the Novak dude. I truly feel that since Novak put out that this is an excellent 1/8 buggy conversion (an 1/8 buggy is even pictured on the hv combos' box) they should do a recall or something lol. Ya right that will never happen......as you can read in the other thread the esc's are garbage in 1/8 buggies and truggies. I have read numerous threads though stating they do rock in sc.

For my rc8e I purchased the castle monster with the 1800 and absolutely love it man... the fan hasn't turned on to date and after running at MHOR (which is hell on wheels for 1/8 combos) I can hold my finger on the motor without hesitation (lol the motor temps after a 15 minute run were 115!!!).

Another friend purchased the tekin 1900 combo and had excellent results... long story short bro stay away from the novak...

I am going to look at the Hobbywing ESC and motor instead. Looking to get in to 1/8 electric fairly cheap to give it a try and folks on another thread have had good luck with those ESC and motor combos.

The Mamba MAx Pro works great in a Buggy that is setup for 4S and is only $129. That would be a good alternative.
