Where did you see a release date? I couldn't find it.

Tower Hobbies has them listed at $165.99 but that will surely come down once they get in stock.

any thoughts? How is it "more efficient" than the original like Krio asked?
Here is what we say:

The Ballistic 550 Brushless Motors (#3504-#3506) are the first 550-sized motors to break into short course competition and easily outperform traditional 540-sized motors. The Ballistic 550s are so powerful because of their extra long stator and rotor magnet.

In fact, the stator and rotor magnet are twice the length of 540-sized motors, giving them twice the torque of an equivalent 540 motor. The more torque, the more speed that is generated! Additionally, these larger-sized motors run cooler and more efficiently than their 540 counterparts.
We are claiming that they are "more efficient" than 540 size motors.

Default ???/Request

Will the Ballistic 550's have a replaceable hall sensor wire??? I hope...or will it be hard lined to the motor as in the HV 550's.

This seems to be the most fragile part of all my motors...its the part that fails most frequently!!

Thanks!

yes, as the diagram illustrates, the motor end bell has a female hall sensor plug like the ESC has, so any length or style can be used

If anyone is attending the NRHSA expo at the Hilton in Las Vegas (May 2-5), stop by our exhibit and take a look at the new Ballistic 550s. These new motors will be shipping @ mid-May.

Danny @ West Coast is running one and I am very impressed, It seems to run a little cooler and longer than the regular Hv.

Novak two....Will this help the heat issue with the Havok Pro at all, We ran a 20 minute race Sunday @ WCRC and even with a fan on my Esc was blazing hot.

I don't think that there is a significant difference between the HVs and the Ballistic 550s that would affect your esc temp. Contact [email protected] for assistance---could also be airflow or gearing.
