what pinion and final gearing? a 4.5 is a hi KV motor for a metal chassis off road.
If you can steer and have no glitches, run over to your truck or have the marshall check what your esc lights are doing.
Sounds to me like Low voltage cutout operating then reseting then you can punch it or drive slowly for probably 10 seconds before it cuts out again right? Some esc's then got o half throttle to limp home, some continue to do what you are getting, burst, cut off, burst cutoff.
Get yourself a cheap lipo cell tester. about 10 bucks, it will scroll through the voltage in each cell and can be used while you are running the battery. Us plane guys have been using them for years.

I would be willing to bet one of your cells is dropping below the esc's low voltage cutoff
