Our track used to start like that. I never liked it. I never liked the rough driving that is encouraged in sc either.

Its fair if your track is wide enough to accomodate the whole width or starters . Then if your the best driver with the best kit, you win, cos you have the lead from the get go.
Thats where the equality ends though, poor driver with max horsepower = fun to watch but dangerous for the good guy with the smooth stock setup!

I say it is good for fun but enter at own risk

If it is a dash for cash, then that is the only fair way to start. the reverse direction also sounds like a great idea for a fun race to so the line is not run in and no one has practiced.

If youre talking short course only, it should be run that way to build on the scale experience.
The frustrations of that knuckle head putting you in the wall cos you thought you would make turn one first or the exhiliration as you make the hole shot and lead the whole race!

Happens in the real thing, let it happen in RC

Yes it is the same as a motocross start. where there are 10 - 20 starters and the first turn is only 4 or 5 wide. ads to the strategy too.
Are you confident enough in your driving and traffic skills to hang back from the mayhem.....
