i honestly doubt 1/8E even needs the center diff, if the whole car is designed for electric in the first place then it might be best to dump the diff.

i'm all for belt drive with both battery and motor on the centerline.

But only if it doesnt comprimise durability and maintenance.

it would be nice to no longer have torque steer...

One problem i can possibly see with belt drives is typically belt drives required open front/rear diffs such that the belt can attach to them. 1/8th buggy is heavily used outdoors.. With all the rain and mud, i think this may not be a good idea. The current buggies, the front/rear diffs are sealed against mud.

no id say you need it, i had ultra thick center diff in my MBX6T and it liftet the front wheels way to much in the dirt... then i went down to 10-15K

While I want some new out of the box thinking, I do think we need to keep the cars as simple as possible. More parts means harder to work on and more likely something will break.

Belt drive would be cool, but it seems like it would be too cumbersome in off road 1/8.

I think some type of innovate layout similar to the ve8 with the Hyper 9 diff moved to the back some how would be the best.

Most nitro guys I converted last year said the same thing & now NONE of them are using mechanical brakes. You might want to try it. You might like the the way the car feels several onces lighter. Toss the clutch while your at it & use the programmabilty of these great ESC's we have now.

Teeforb, I know you have your fingers in your ears right now and are going "lalalalalala" but I also though I needed mechanical brakes. I was wrong.

i tried using elec brakes and i HATED it... i keep on doing front flips and the end of a long straight when i hit the brakes hard. and sometimes, i like hook slidding into corners. It's hard doing that with elec brakes. also, i think it's a lot easier on your ESC and motor not using brakes... but, it's just my preference...

I tried mechanical brakes and I did like them a little bit, but I found them to be cumbersome. I found I can get the rear to swing around with a few setup changes w/o mechanical brakes. You also should not be endoing when you hit the brakes. Your brakes are just set too hard.

Motor brakes work fine. You just have to learn to dial them out a bit. Some of the fastest drivers I have seen don't use mechanical brakes on their e 1/8s.

I am finally learning how to use the functionality of the ESCs to tune the car and it is amazing what some of the settings can do and how they will help the car handle.

Exactly Edumakated. Funny your name is Edumakated but it should be Edumakator.

Teeforb "and sometimes, i like hook slidding into corners"

I can do that with no mechanical brake.

if they made one i would pick it up.. but for the kit plus the tekno kit the cost gets pretty high.. i think i might just pick up the hyper 9e for now.. and if they make one i will sell the 9e.
