Default Novak HV Pro or Xerun??

I am looking to get an esc and motor for a 1/8 buggy. I plan on racing and not going over 4 cells. The Tekin is out of my budget. I have heard alot of good about the Xerun 80 and 150 amp speedos. I have also heard the Novak HV Pro is pretty good. Which one is better and do I need an 150a esc for 1/8 buggy. What size motor would also be good for longer run times. I don't need crazy speed I am an average driver.

Get something bigger like a Mamaba max monster. The Havoc will overheat in a 1/8 th scale.

The Fusion 748 comes with the 80A HW and 1880 motor, it's a good combo for 1/8th. You only need the 150 if you plan on running 6S.

Nothing wrong with the HV. It just has to be geared right and you can't use the fastest motor they offer. Besides, the MMM is sensorless. Provided cogging is almost over with, it can still happen at any time in the future.

ghj1997, I'd say the 7.5 combo, should treat you well.

I was thinking of the HV Pro with the HV 7.5. What would the top speeds be around?
Also is the Hobbywing 80a the same as the Xerun. I saw where Caster uses the Hobbywing in there RTR.

not sure on the Novak's but i have been testing and running the XeRun 150-A's in my both my RC8B's and both my RC8T's
for the ESC there pretty good!!, have a "Feel" ALLOT like the Tekins
can run sensored or Sensorless so makes this a versitile ESC they get about average temps like most.
but at around 120.00 they dont hurt the wallet as bad....the combo is still around 200.00 for motor and esc..
4S in a buggy get around a 1900kv or 2000kv you'll be in the ball park for most tracks.

Dont buy the Novak, I like their stuff but the HV is out dated and has known issues. When their new stuff for 8th scale comes out it will be a different story. Get the Xerun 80 amp esc and their 2250 motor combo. Or get the Xerun 80 amp esc and a Speed passion Silver Arrow V2 9.5 motor.

I would not go for the Novak HV pro as I had many issues with this. You need to run two separate 2s lipo packs but you really should have a separate BEC as the one in the Novak does not like the high voltage and will constantly reset when you hit the throttle. It is just a very old design and is not up to the job. Their motors are also not large enough and tend to run on the hot side.

I have had nothing but issues with the Novak systems. I went through 2 of there motor and used to run there ESC, but never was consistent. Just my honest opinion.

Get the Xerun, the 1 that looks like blue anodized alum ESC. They are awesome from what I hear. I will be picking 1 up for a spare for my RX8 soon.

The 80A and 150A XERuns are better as they can run sensored or sensorless and designed for bigger 8th scale cars. I believe the 120A XERun are for 10th scale cars and not 8th scale.

The eZRun are cheaper because they're sensorless and designed for 10th, 12th and 18th scale cars.
