Default 6000Mah lipo ok for Slash?

is a 6000mah 28C lipo ok for a stock 1/10th Slash 2wd? I know people that run 5000mah but is 6000 too high or does it really affect anything other than run time? I have a 4000mah lipo for it now but it is going bad so going to toss it

i dont think it would hurt. i think what hurts is voltage or heat issues by getting longer run times.

well i mean i wont be running it for that long at a time just the 5-7 minute races at my LHS i just want to make sure i will still have power for the next race if i get caught up marshalling races and forget to charge it. or If I am at home I still only run it for 20 or so minutes til I break something haha

there is no such thing as too high of mah unless your track regulates it..the more the better IMHO....is the pack an SMC pack? if so those are excellent packs

If it fits in the battery tray, then go for it! It will give you more runtime, and won't hurt anything.

The 6000 will weigh more, but thats about the only downside I see with it. You might need to play with position to get it re-balanced, but thats easy enough to do. If it fits the batt tray, go for it.

I agree with duster the weight might slow you down and/or make braking parts that much more likely as you have more car mass slamming into pipes to crack some brittle arm and joint pieces. But if you dont crash much and your forgetful about charging that could last you the whole day.

well like I have heard not to runn the 8000 and 9000mah packs and they said some other reason besides just crazy long runtime. But yes I am talking about the SMC. I am about to pick 2 up here in next few days. I wont run the truck long enough for it to get hot so that wont be an issue.

Thanks for all the input guys and gals if there where any lol..

Guess I'm gonna put the order in

I don't really see the point in getting a 6000mah pack for racing. Especially in a Slash class. All it is going to do is add weight. Slash is slow enough as it is.

My recommendation is to pick up a couple 5000mah hardcase packs from HobbyCity. Those will be cheaper than one SMC pack. A 5000mah pack will easily run two qualifiers with juice to spare.

Of course the above assumes your track does not require ROAR approved lipos.

no we dont require ROAR approved lipo's just as long as they are 2S 7.4v

i'm fine with the little extra weight I'm not winning a-mains or anything now as it is lol. Just having some fun racing. our track is more of just running a good line, we have one straight stretch for start/finish line but i'm not too worried about it. I do pretty good in the corners and am usually out in front a pretty good ways in my heats and what not to where i dont mind if they catch me on the straight because I will get them in the turn. and I think the little extra weight will put my COG a little lower maybe hug ground better? we'll see what happens when my new packs come in and I run it at the track. If it slows me down too much I will order some smaller packs for racing and use my 6000MAh's for home use

I am helping remodel a buddies kitchen and he said he'd buy me a couple lipo packs or a brushless setup so I told him i'd rather have the lipo's.

Ordered 2 SMC 2S 6000mah 28C lipo's last night cant wait for them to come in. my protek 4000mah 20C pack is about had it

thanks for all the input everyone

I thought that 6000mAh Lipo weight will help to prevent rear wheels spinning out from Full Throttle with 4700Kv motor.
