Default Gearing for 1/10 4wd-

Hello Guys-

I've been a 1/8th scale racer for a few seasons now, but have little experience with 1/10th scale buggies. I just picked up a B44 and was probably going to get a Tekin RS Pro with a 6.5 motor (mainly because that seems to be a popular turn motor...). Oh, the track that I will be using it at is fairly tight and technical with one straight section. My question is what's the ballpark gearing for spur and pinion?

Thanks -

Jim

I have a 5700Kv in mine and it's comparable in terms of turns with your 6.5...

Mine is geared at 84/16 mainly and these days 84/17 because the track has less climbs and more straights (and the weather is a lot colder)...

I'd start with 84/16 and work your way up on the pinion, just temp your motor and ESC every time you run and ask yourself the most important question, do you REALLY need more top-end or more punch (torque)? That should give you an idea which way to go on the pinion...

I am running a 6.5 as well. And 16/84 is perfect, I can clear the tripple and
maintain speed on the straight.

so the spur is 84. they said 16 or 17. just ask youself how big is your track or how big of an area your running? is it tight or is it open? If you not sure buy 3 pinions. if its bigger than get 16 17 and 18. if its a smaller track than get 15 16 17. Try them out a see what you like better. Everyone has a little different driving style.
