Nitro buggy conversion to electric components question.

Nitro buggy conversion to electric components question.
I have a 1/8th nitro buggy which I wanted to sell or swap for an electric but no one seems interested so I’ll convert it to electric instead.
I'll use this motor and servo as spare back up on my other nitro buggy so nothing gets wasted.
I do know that no conversion kits are made for this buggy.
I did some research looking at tutorials on you tube and came across well known squirrels how to sections. I have checked out my buggy for this conversion and have no problems with the lay out in going ahead.
As I know nothing about electric as to what to buy in bits and pieces the next wise thing to do is ask here.
I’ll probably race this but still have a long way in being competitive so I don’t need to buy the best components and I can upgrade later.
I didn’t want to just go to ebay and start ordering parts and end up with a non working set up or having it burn out on me.
Suggestions on what to buy for starters to get this project rolling.
I have ordered a engine mount but need to know about what motor, speed controller, batteries to use.As squirrels tutorial said it can be done without spending a fortune.
Any help would be appreciated.

This has been a great thread with tons of info:

I just converted my losi 8b to brushless and have found a lot of info here. I'd suggest sticking with either Castle creations or Tekin for motors and esc's. Here are their websites:
http://www.castlecreations.com/
http://www.teamtekin.com/
Since you are in Australia I'm not sure what access you have to these products. For batteries, Turnigy and Zippy seem to be cheap and reliable. I ordered one for my buggy and it didn't fit. So I cannot speak from experience but have heard many good things about them. Also Hyperion are another good brand. Good luck with the build and post some pics when your done
