Default B4/T4 "old" u-brace??

Hi all. I have seen a couple of setup sheets for the B4 and T4 that in the comments list the "old" u-brace. I'm assuming it's part #9564. The current FT U-brace is 9565. I'm wondering, what is the diffence between the two? Is the old one plastic as opposed to graphite? What is the advantage of using the "old" u-brace?

The old rear bulkhead is thinner where the inner ball studs are screwed in resulting in a slightly lower position. You would need to add 1 or 2 extra washers under the ball stud of the old bulkhead to make it equivalent to the new one.

I believe the old brace is either .030 or .060 lower.

New brace has each of the ball studs raised .060" same as 2 washers. The brace has been around for a few years now.

This part was changed years ago, any brace that you purchase now will be the new brace.

With the old brace everyone ran at least 2 ball stud washers, so to increase the strength of the part they added more material to the part, this addition made the brace 0.060" taller.

The part numbers you have listed are the exact same part from the same mold, however one is plastic(9564) one is carbon(9565). Geometry wise they are the same.

You can identify the new brace by the mold line that it has on it where the new material was added.

Thanks Chris. So does the plastic brace flex more giving more roll going into corners and a bit more steering going in? I broke a ball stud off in brace on my T-4 the other day and was just looking at what making a change to the plastic would do to the truck.

The plastic brace allows the chassis to flex more....
