I'm getting very near to 30 mins with 2 x 8000mAh 7.4V Acepow lipo on 150A Hobbywing ESC & Tenshock 1950Kv 6 pole motor.

If you get the Caster Racing electric conversion kit for the nitro http://holeshothobbies.com/index.php...roducts_id=186 it will be a direct bolt on conversion for your MBX5R. I have sold alot of them to MBX5R owners. Cheaper then buying a whole new buggy.

Here is my Fusion. I now have a Speed passion motor in it. Mine is actually the race roller fusion.

Since this thread is fairly active I thought I'd post my gear and runtimes. I'm running the Fusion Pro as well, but it was an early car that was prebuilt and the plastic was brittle to be honest. From what I've seen since they seem to be bullet proof now. I have a Medusa 1600kv 60mm motor, 13/46 gearing, Mamba Monster esc and Common Sense 5400 7.4 packs in series. I'm getting 23 minutes of runtime because the motor kv is lower than what most people run. I still have no problem keeping up in the straights and the car is much more controllable unlike most BL 1/8th buggies I have seen.
I installed a Xray 8ec front end to cure my parts breakage problems and increase steering as well. I also threw on a set of Kyosho big bore shocks as well. Not because the Caster shocks were bad I knew my Kyosho's were good to go right away. I was right because the car handles great. I finished 2nd in sportsman buggy, 20 main on one set of packs.

That is some awesome running with those packs I would say.

Since that thing is so obviously a close copy of the Mugen car, does anyone know what parts are interchangeable? Reason I ask is I want to get an electric for my son and we have a boatload of MBX5 parts in the trailer. Would be nice if I could have ready spare parts on hand if I went with the caster for him.

Get the conversion kit, the pro chassis and you're good to go!!! A fellow racer of mine did the conversion and he's not looking back running nitro anymore.....Plug and play is so easy and fun IMHO!!! Good luck with your build...

99.9 % interchangeable. If you have MBX5 parts you're good to go. The only thing i'd watch out for is if you change something like a hub or an arm, change both sides so you have similar plastic compositions on both sides and you won't be running lopsided under stress.

99% of what you have will fit, but if you run a Mugen arm on one side I would run a Mugen arm on the other side. They are very close and parts will fit but not exactly the same. diffs and most drive train parts will fit. You will not be dissappointed. The Caster will turn much better than the Mugen.
