I took my rusty out and used the GPS to get some speed raitings. I see all those, "how fast does a rustler go" threads and thought i might help out.

This is with the stock gearing, but with xl1 tires because they grip better than my bald ones.

7 Cell 4200 tenergy batt 34.1
2s lipo 2200 mah 36.6
3s lipo 2200 Mah 50.3

I am going to work with the gearing and get more speeds.

To add to your info my co-worker and I have done a lot of speed testing with rustys. I'm guessing you have a stock vxl if so the motor calls for 65 constant amps and with its low kv and higher gearing about 70% peak about 100 amps so if your 3s battery was 30c it would be 66 constant amps.
for top speed of your motor you need to give your motors peak amps(100)that many constant battery amps so 20c 5000 or 40c 2500.
we have tried this method with rustys t-4s & stampedes with 17.5 13.5 9.5 6.5 3.5 & mm6900 the only differance is the higher the kv the lower the peak % because you can't gear up as high. example my 3.5 is 10,500 kv I can't gear it very high but it's 86 constant amps but only 40% peak and 2s but thats still 20 more peak amps than vxl.
Btw good choice on the 2.2 rims way better than those awful andacondas I use 2.2 with low pro street tires.
