Default Gearing for Brushless switch

This is an important one.

I am interested to know if I should expect the gearing would change significantly on switching from brushed to brushless. I am running a buggy with little room for gearing changes. I am racing stock right now (4wd, outdoors, clay) so will have to have a 17.5 motor.

Does it depend on motors (i.e. are there B/L motors that can be geared pretty much like the brushed or all B/L motors require change, and significant at that)?

I run a slash. with the stock motor I ran 18/86. and with my new 17.5 I am running a 25/86 and possible gonna go to a 27 so it changes quite a bit in my expierence.
