you may need to take time off work, plan on making it 3 or more day event nationals isn't somewhere you just show up at noon saturday and be done just a little after 5pm expect 250+ entries so it going to be an all weekend event.

Yep- That was me. I had some missed opportunities throughout the day but still had fun. There is a slight chance I will be there for the Halloween race and definitely the next Points race.

I wonder what type of tire works good on the outdoor track? Maybe Bowties, Step Pins, IFMAR Spikes, Holeshots, etc.?

Thanks Nick. I have a ROAR spec battery already and plan to get a ROAR spec 17.5 motor system sometime during the winter. In the Stock SCT class JC Goosebumps should be legal. Chassis will be a tweeked Traxxas Slash with some mods. I am planning to race at Washtenaw in this class all winter so we'll see how I can do there. I hope to race MORL next summer as well. I look forward to this winter's racing and hope to get to know more of the MORL crew.

What is the ROAR requirements for chassis in stock class?

I`m glad I`m only 45 minutes away from LH and can`t wait .

Scott [the owner] said the race will be run outside for sure. He said they will build a few 1/10 scale friendly courses throughout the summer so we can get some practice in on the outdoor track .

The outdoor track is pretty big , I might lose my 1/10 scales out there .

I think they use control tires in stock & super stock classes. A specific model tire, announced some time before the race. If I understand correctly you have to bring them to tech unopened and get them marked, then there is a big gluing frenzy. Hopefully someone will flame me appropriately if I’m mistaken. Believe modified is open tires.

Chassis mods within the general class rules should be OK, but like Nick said, check the rule book (and recheck later for 2010 rules):

I have read through the ROAR Rules per Nick's suggestion. It looks like the modifications that I was planning to do on the chassis to lower the battery would not be allowed in the Stock SCT class. All parts are required to be for sale to the general public at least 14 days prior to the event. So my designs would not be legal unless I plan to start my own company and sell a product to anyone who wants it. This also means that the ThunderTech, XtremeRC, and Integy LCG Slash chassis are legal. I was hoping to do my own version for a much lower cost.

I missed the Tire rule mentioned above. I looked at the flyer for this years Nationals and sure enough the tires are specified for the primary Stock and Super Stock classes.

Thanks for your help. We have a lot of time before the event. Are we sure that the Stock SCT class will be offered? It states in the ROAR rules that they are limited to 6 classes for any Cat 5 event. What are the big classes that are standard (2wd Buggy/truggy, 4wd buggy/truggy, etc)?

All I can tell you is at the 2009 nats nine classes were run! I'm not sure who decides what classes are run, the host track or Roar, but I think it would be a mistake to leave the SC class out.
