Ive been running one for or 5 months now. Before the lektron I used a HUGE Neu 1515 1y that I had in an esc8 then my 8 2.0 then my 8 1.5T. All with tekno kits

I was told that the Neu motor I had was more designed for a truggy and was a little big for my application when I had it in my 2.0 buggy. I drive really conservatively, but so I can see how someone who is on the throttle alot might have a hard time with a 160 amp motor.

When i went from the NEU 1515 to the tekno there was a noticable decrease in power and speed. Honestly though it probably made me a little faster around the track because the power from the tekno was much more useable. With the tekno motor I can almost floor it coming out of a sweeper, whereas with the Neu the only place I could even think of flooring it was on the first half of the straight and my car had to be perfectly squared up. Also the dimensions of the tekno motor are perfect, - it sits much lower than any other motor/mount you could buy and the fact that it sits flat on the chassis means it cna use that chassis as a heat sink ( something ive just noticed). Also, having the wires come stright out of the top makes alot of sense and I feel makes the wiring alot simpler and nicer - The neu motor had issues with their wires shorting. The neu motor I had was also a square can that bolted right to the chassis but it sat much higher and didnt transfer heat as well to the chassis

As far as temps go the Neu ran cooler (proabably becassue i never really was able to open it up). Both motors I used were/are 2200kv and both were run with mmmv3 and thunder power 5000mah 40c's The hottest the Neu ever got was 130 whereas the tekno is usually around 140 and up to 165 on really hot day (100 plus). To be fair though I never ran the Neu motor on a really hot day.

I highly recommend the tekno motors for 1/8 scale applications. Ive let a couple nitro racers drive my car and they both commented on how my car doesnt "feel" electric. I used to run nitro my self, and I feel that the combination of this motor with the teknorc clutch feels very very familiar. You can still clear every jump with this motor, but in my experince you arnt going to be blowing the nitro guys away on the straight with it. Ive had a couple guys actually keep up. But this is waht I wanted - a manageable easy to drive car

I must say though that my "nitro feeling electric" doesnt work so well on the tight indoor 10th scale clay tracks here in socal. If you are running on that type of track I reccomend using a maybe a 3s setup and a direct drive.
Im no expert when it comes to offroad though so I probabl didnt have my car setup right

these motors are made by Medusa Research which is now out of buisness so their is no warranty on them. TeknoRC makes nice kits but they are their track record for motor warranties is horrible and they'll tell you to go around chasing manufacturures.

The after burner motors (which is what the lectors are based on) were great, too bad they are gone :/

this is not true, if the motor breaks just give tekno a call, i am sure they will replace it if it was not caused by user air. i have ran the 2200kv buggy motor very hard for the last 4 months and it runs cool and has plenty of power for a buggy, for a truggy motor from tekno stay tuned .

discowings, have you owned one of these motors? if you did, did it break? whom did you talk to from tekno that told you to call medusa?

I love Tekno and their products but agree with the comment a few posts up. I had a TEKNO NUE that was 2 months old with very little run time on it and the front bearing busted apart. Called them and they said call Nue. I just ordered bearings from Boca and fixed it myself alot faster than any other option at the moment.
