Questions?? Rebuilding XXXT Gen 1 Tranny

Hit the search feature first before posting this question. Couldn't find specifics on what I need assistance with.

I'm gonna be cracking open my Gen 1 Tranny sometime in the very near future to do a reuild. I'd like to know what parts I need for a complete rebuild (or if I really need to) and where the best place to buy would be. I know for sure I'm going to need the Outdrives since they are pretty well worn from the drive shafts.

Thank you very much in advace for any help you guys can provide!

Well if the outdrives are done you probably need a full rebuild.
1. outdrives
2. diff rings
3. difff balls
4. thrust bearing
5. diff screw w/nut and washers

Check the bearings too if gritty your call on replacement. Also look at the idler gear and top shaft. Those parts hold up well they, should be ok.

Just take your time when you rebuild it and you should be good to go!

Get the outdrives, diff rings, and screw/spring for the newer "cr" diff, it makes for a smoother, longer lasting diff.

I have both, and they are great as well....they come in syringes for easy application, and more than you will need for quite some time.

I prefer Amain myself for most of my purchases

I would not think out-drives need to be replaced.....

or just the diff nuts.....

Thanks everybody for all the great info. Didn't think it would cost this much to rebuild... that's for sure. But if I want it done right I'll pay what it takes. Again, thanks everyone!!!
