X Factory At The All Japan Championship

X Factory At The All Japan Championship
This weekend is the All Japan Championship. If anything can be closer and tougher than the competition between Ryan, Ryan, and Jared at our Nationals, it's the competition at the All Japan. Every Japanese driver works the entire year for this one event.
(I'm writing this from my house and don't have the files here, so please forgive me if I mis-spell any names.)
Many top pro Japanese drivers work for companies like Tamiya and Hot Bodies which make 4WD cars but not buggies, and many of those drivers choose to drive X Cars. In 2008, top Tamiya driver Satochi Maezumi took second at the All Japan with his X - 6, and he will be driving the 6 Squared this year.
Our Japanese importer/distributor is Team AJ, owned by Yuichi Ajishi, a former Japanese Champion in 1/8 and second three times. Mr Ajishi-san has also finished second in 1/10 4WD, so he is no stranger to 1/10 and will be a strong contender this year with his X Cars.
Also driving the X - 6 Squared this year is Utsugi Morita, who has been in the A main several times.
So we have a very strong Team for this major race. We will try to keep you posted.
B.T.W. Many Americans do not know that in just the few years X Factory has been in business, we have won eight National Championships in various countries around the world, including the U.S. Championship in 2005.

Although the modern mass produced kits are quite good these days, there is always room for improvement and always a person willing to apply a fresh idea. Although I'm not currently running an X Factory product, I am thankful for their positive contribution to the hobby. I have raced with and met Paul personally and he is always helpful and a great contributor to the hobby.

I see what your point is with this remark, however i tend to think of it more like this. Sometimes when the bigger companies aren't willing to make a change in design, the smaller privateers are. And sometimes the changes work. Other times they don't. Apparently the mid motor design is working for many these days. And apparently the bigger companies are finally taking notice with releases like the Losi "Strike" which just happens to be a mid motor design.

The new Losi "Strike" is a totally different type of chassis, that doesn't mean it will work well with 1/10 scale trucks & buggies.
You are obviously biased. I don't have the same sappy sentiment about Paul being a "Great Contributor" to our hobby at all. He 's just a guy hyping his product, something that has limited application. He 's just helping himself.

I have seen the X6 and X60 trucks work extremely well for Brian Kinwald and Paul Lemuix (ever heard of him?) on several occasions. It may have limited application but every company starts somewhere and there was similar skepticism when Team Losi (ever heard of them?) released a buggy with a 5-link rear suspesion. Hats off to the X-factory guys for doing something, even if it's not what you want to see. Chassis development is otherwise stagnant, if BK were to win something big with his, you'd be seeing a bunch more in SoCal in no time.
He's hyping his product here because his company isn't yet big enough to afford large scale advertising. BTW, I'm hearing that most of the Losi guys in the UK are running an Atomic Carbon mid motor conversion nowadays.

The email Chazz mentioned also had a link to some pics and the full results:

Yatabe Arena always looks like one of the most dialed places to race... I'd love to make it there someday! Here's some of the pics from that link above; sadly they aren't higher resolution and I haven't found any videos
