If I leave from NC now...I might just make it before the snows come....man that is one of the nicest, most well groomed tracks I've seen...how does it handle water and wear, pack/dry/groove....how did you sculpt/groom the faces of the jumps to get them sooooooooooooo smooth?

Beautiful layout as well, great features and flow. I, along with everyone that has seen this thread, would welcome some live footage of this layout in action....if it paid you could definitely quite your day job

I sent this link to the director of our local track as he is always looking for ways to improve on an already great design...I see a few features I would like incorporated into our layout.

The track is mostly clay with small rocks/gravel mixed in in spots so it packs very nicely and gets very hard. Water helps up to a point but with it being clay you get a slick greasey layer on top if you over wter it and you have to let it dry up a little before running on it. The jumps were made my hand with a garden rake. I used the tractor to haul in the dirt but 90% of the shaping was done by hand. I continually step back and look at the jumps as I shape them to make sure every thing is square, straight, level, and even before I run the plate compactor on it. If something looks a little uneven while I'm running the tamper I stop and fix it before continuing on. The surface is pretty nice but it is not without imperfections. The pics do hide some less then perfect spots that bug the heck out of me but after all it's just dirt and you can't expect it to look like asphalt all the time. I'm glad you like the layout. I wanted something that would keep me busy even if I'm running on the track by myself.
