Default Help me with gearing, pls. slash/vxl/3s question

ok...i've got a slash with a vxl running on a 6400mah 3s and 1/8 mohawks.

i'm just bashing in my backyard and occasionally on a track (haven't gotten the lipo out to the track yet due to weather)

i run it about 20-30 min and i can't hardly touch the motor or esc. the motor is hotter than the esc.

my gearing is 90t spur with 19t pinion.
i've got a 23t and 24t pinion here as well (and i think a 13 or 11t on my crawler)
and an 86t spur.

what should i do to combat the heat? i can buy a 76 or 83t spur and any other pinion...doesn't matter, i just need the heat gone!

a vxl brushless system is close to a 10.5 (kv rating)i think...witch most recomend u go down on your pinion by 2 teeth from stock ....18t should be allright unless u are using 8th scale buggy wheels&tires u should go down to a 17t or 16t with 86spur because the bigger tires are changing your final drive ratio and causing hotter temps ...

not saying u have 2 ......but your motor and esc will last longer

I have a Slash w/VXL, stock gearing (18/86) and run 2.2 Proline Hammers on Eight-Shooter beadlocks. So far so good but I don't have a 3s, the biggest pack I have is an 8cell 4500 Nimh hump/stick pack. I have a few 2s 4500 packs but they're not as fast as the 8 cell. So far so good on the heat department but I may still go down a couple teeth on the pinion when I can afford to.

I know someone on another forum that has a MM 5700 and runs 13/90. I don't think he has a 3s but he does have 2s. I believe he got his gearing info from one of the guys at Castle.

i'm over heating with 19t/90t already though!

wouldn't 21/86 be considerably worse?
