Default Recommendations?

Hey, i was going to go Nitro but after discovering the run time for a tank a fuel it was starting to look like an expensive up keep. So ive decided to go electric. Nice and simple with little up keep expense. I would like to go for a 1/8th scale is possible but theres not many about. I dont mind a 1/10th if its a cracking car though.

I like truggys and monster trucks so if anyone can help me make up my mind that would be great.

Any make/model recommendations?

cheers

thanks for the reply. What do you think of the HPI Firestorm Flux and Traxxas Revo Brushless?

It looks it. But im on a budget, so i was thinking for along the lines of the E firestorm...what do you think about that car? Also, how comes the Nitro Firestorm is cheaper than the E-flux version? Is the electric one faster?

What's the budget (if you can share?) - that helps with thinking through a purchase. There will be upkeep and so on. For an e-truggy or e-buggy, do you want to go LiPo? You can go lower-budget with NiMH batteries but LiPo are easier maintenance and you'd use fewer packs if bashing/charging. Racers use each NiMH pack twice or once per race-day and cycle through multiple packs. Post-bashing, you'd want to let NiMH cool down - but it sounds like LiPo you don't (I'm still NMH myself).

If you're on a budget, you may not be racing, right? Racing (IMO) adds a whole lot to the equation and the budget.

Heres the details on what i want etc...

£300 Max including transmitter etc. (hop ups come later)
No racing, just charging down the dirt path in the local wood.
Use it twice a week.

The firestorm has my eye, but like i said in an earlier post, why is the nitro cheaper than the flux? Which is faster? Im all about speed haha.

I've got both the e-firestorm and the nitro firestorm. I have to say that they are very durable trucks. The EFS is faster then the nitro with the right battery and gear combo. This is due to the instant torque that the electric generates the nitro has to spool up. But there is something to say about the smell of the nitro when it burns (one of my favorite things). But I like the ease of the electric just plug in and go. There's no tuning to mess with. As far as the cost of them I believe that the nitro is cheaper due to the ease of use with the electric and the fact that to 1/10 scale nitro truck racing is dying out. I understand that you have a budget as well as most of us but you might consider the Savage flux if you want to go with a larger scale. In mt opinion Lipo batteries are the way to go. The cost is a little more up front but you will see better performance and a longer run time.

That would also be a good selection. There is a ton of aftermarket and hop ups for the E-maxx
