I agree with darrel about the 2wd but for different reasons.

You stated that you are new to RC cars but not to RCs in general. 4wd buggies are my favorite, but it was only after years of 2wd that I got into it... 2wd are a great start, and there are number of vehicles to choose from that are really high quality... They are generally easier to work on and generally have a lot less headache...

But if you must go with a 4wd and choose one, I would have to agree with many of the posters on here about what your local track/shop supports. If you're in the US, chances are, they probably support the Associated's stuff...

But check first, since one out of the three hobby shop near my town swear that "B44s aren't very popular." A very twisted view in my opinion...

My vote would go for the B44. It's a competition-ready, race-grade buggy out of the box. Even if you choose not to race, it's ready when you are...

Have you thought of a Stadium Truck? They are pretty easy for the new RC driver, much more forgiving than a 2wd buggy. I like the T4, they are great to bash and play around with also, tougher than a 2wd buggy. I started out with a buggy and then got a truck. Trucks are much more stable and you can push them harder on tracks that are ate up by 8th scales

I still run 2wd Truck Buggy and 4wd Mod, So it really comes down to what you want. Most Hobby shops will order parts for you and stock the usual if you let them know (Arms, shockTowers, etc)

Thumbs up

Well I'm used to RC boats (sailing) and I do a lot of the building and tuning myself and I used to have a rc car about 20 years ago and worked on one of the first few rc bike with V shape wheels but the technology has gone leaps and bounds since and why I consider myself a newbie again. This is for my son but guess who's gona get the car ready and fix it !!! And money is tight but I've saved for this present and so that's why I need something good to evolve when I need to, solid enough and that I can upgrade in time if we want to do more with it.

Looks like the B44 is a good option for me and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to my thread and for your help.

I know how important each contribution is as I've been trying to revive RC sailing here in Ireland for 4 years now and it's not easy - particularly when you have no external support. so your responses have been greatly appreciated.
