Losi smart diff - works or a gimick
 

anyone have experience with this part

Thinking of buying the center diff unit for my 2.0B but part of me thinks they just pay Drake to say it works great to sell another $90 part that doesnt do anything.

Supposedly lets you run into the corners faster... I'm not sure Im anxious to see what people have to say...

I have yet to hear anything negative about it, the only "bad" things I have heard is from people who say it didn't work for their style.

It works! A couple of people around here have it say it works. But be ready for the increase it steering associated with the oneway style action of the smart diff. Putting it in the center will give an increase in corner entry steering and make the car only brake with the rear wheels if it acts like a oneway. It is faster but harder to drive for most people till you get use to it. It also makes jumping different.

It shouldn't act like a one way. It is a diff or a spool depending on the torque applied to it. If you use motor brakes (electric, center diff)), it should lock like a spool. If you use mechanical brakes, this diff should not feel different at all.

Basically, off power it should act like a very free diff. On power or with electric brakes, it should act like a spool.
