Default Making the transition to dirt tracks, need tips please

How big of an adjustment is it to go from a carpet track to a dirt track. I was wondering what type of adjustments have to be made suspension wise going from a carpet track to a indoor/outdoor dirt track. I am going to race on dirt tracks this summer and I only have indoor carpet knowledge up to this point. I am just looking for some tuning pointers regarding suspension, shocks, and gearing to prepare for the dirt. Thanks

Shocks you might want to run thinner oil in, to absorb the bumps more, maybe slightly lower gearing (depends on track), and a slightly higher suspension. All mostly to soak up the bumps so it isn't thrown around like a rag-doll.

Nice, so instead of running a little lower on the carpet, I should run a little higher for the bigger jumps. Wouldn't you want heavier weight oil to absorb the jump better??

more vertical shock angles for absorbing jumps, most carpet tracks do not have big jumps, so I wouldn't put them to vertical or you will push. A stiffer oil will make it turn better along with a stiffer spring rate. You have tremendous grip on carpet, however you will have more of a slide feel on dirt. The only transition you will have difficult with at first is when you get in a slide and have to correct yourself, other than that it is very similar.
