Should I clean my brushless?

There are screws holding the can together on my novak 6.5. Should a person pull a brushless motor apart and blow the dust out occasionally? I'm a little scared of yanking things apart till I know more about what and why I'm doin it.

I clean mine every now and again. I feel that brushless motor should be called LOW maintenance and not NO maintenance. Basically when I clean mine it's to get all the dust out, and clean all the bearings. Then I throw it all back together and away I go.

x1

Notice the statement midway down the page =
"Never use solvents such as motor cleaners or brake cleaners."

It isn't explained, but it is there for a reason. ;)

How often do you maintain your BL motors Lightin'?

As a practice I completely disassemble my cars once a month, or 4 race days, which includes "cleaning" the motors and rebuilding the shocks and tranny. I do a minor maintenance cleaning of the car itself after each race, which includes blowing/dusting it off and washing tires and the body in addition to cleaning the slipper and spur and cleaning and re-oiling the primary axle bearings and motor bearings. :)
