Default Lipo run time ? in a B4 and XXXT-CR

Hi guys i am thinking of jumping on the Lipo kick and went to my LHS to check out some batteries. The guy was showing me a 30C 3800 Orion pack and was telling me i can get 45min out of this pack. Is this possible or is he just trying to make a sale on an expensive battery. Please fill me in cause he will give me a good deal on a couple of batteries but i dont want to be taken if i can get something less expensive.

Erik

all depends on battery, gearing, motor, driving habits, track size. i do know that my 2wd buggy with a 10.5 on a medium size indoor clay track only needs 1000mah from my small lipos to do a warmup and 5min heat. if thats another reference pt for u

Well I have a 13x2 brushed motor in my B4 and a 10.5 Brushless in my XXXT. So if 5min takes 1000mah out of your batt then technically in a 3800mah batt it would hit cutoff in 20min or so am i thinking about that correctly.

45min on a 3800 lipo seems to be a bit of a stretch. but yes as stated above a big part of how long it will last depends on the motor you are running. say a 6.5 mod motor will draw a much larger current and drain the battery much faster than a stock 17.5 motor would. i was running a maxamps 4200 30C lipo in a T4 with a 6.5mod motor and was able to run both my 5 qualifiers and it wouldnt even drain 1/4 of the battery. i would always peak it before my main but it had plenty to last all night. hope this might help
