Default New to rc need advice

I want to build a buggy/truggy, not sure which would be more beneficial. I want to race and I want to be competitive. What are good companies/brands to go with. I want to spend around 1000 dollars. The more suggestions and opinions the better. I am really looking forward to getting started on the project, I just need help.
Thanks
Chad Millard

Typically the best choice for starting out is whatever is most popular at your local track(s) where you plan to run. And what is supported with parts at your local hobby shop. That way you can get the most help, and keep running.

Buy a buggy, or a truggy kit, a conversion kit to electric, a Spektrum radio, a Mamba Monster set-up, and some SMC LiPo's, such as a 4c 5000mah battery, and you should be good to go.

Maybe someone else has some suggestions.
