I'm astonished Castle are even considering releasing a Senored ESC!
I though the sensorless controller was perfect in every application?
Or at least, that's what all the Castle-sponsored drivers have been posting...
I been running sensorless for 18 months now and driven alot of my buddies sensored setups and they both work great. It is all setup IMO because everyone of the guys that try my sensorless setup all say it is too smooth of a power band. Guess next time I will turn it up and make it just the opposite for them.
A sensored setup will just give Castle users one more tuning opportunity that other companies don't have. Add that to already some of the best pricing in the industry and with that Castle in these tough times keeps growing unlike most other businesses.

4S is most commonly used in 1/8 electric, if the Pro can handle that voltage, is smaller, and cost less, it would cut into Monster sells.
In so doing, it would compete directly w/ the Monster, no?
Yes the 8th scales use 4s packs, but you have to keep in mind there is far more bashers then racers (it will always be that way), and most guys who bash or play in their yard are looking for just raw power. Racers on the other hand want controlable power to make them faster on the track.
So with the fact that it will handle up to a 6s li-po means that it should have a lower ohm rating, which inturn makes the esc more efficient, and that would mean things should stay cooler.
Really it shouldn't compete with the monster as I think the monster can handle more amps then the 10th scale esc.

I wasn't really referring to it's use in bashers, I was referring to it's use in 1/8 racing applications. I understand that a 6S battery w/ a lower KV motor is more efficient and runs cooler than the same set up as a 4S battery w/ a higher KV motor.
Many have used the Mamba Max (rated for 3S) very successfully in 1/8 conversions and if the Pro version is rated up to 6S, is smaller, lighter, and cheaper(assuming it is cheaper) than the Monster, I can see it being used in 1/8 electric rigs regardless of whether it is aimed at the 1/10 market.
I just wanted to get Castles perspective on the question of the Pro being used in 1/8 electric racing.

Being 6S capable, is this a direct competitor w/ the Monster?
No it isn't ment to compete with the Monster. It is smart to make stuff overkill because consumers are rough on electronics so why not make it as tough as it can be.

True enough.
I understand that it may not have been intentionally designed to compete w/ the Monster, but w/ it's specs, it sounds like it could.
Regardless, I'm sure I'll be adding another fantastic Castle product to my stable.

With up to 6S and sensored capable, this might end up being a great option for people that want to run a 4S sensored setup in an 1/8 scale (SpeedPassion, Tekin, Novak, and the soon to be released LRP 1/8 scale system). It was a good move on ROAR's part (man did I just say that) to make it legal to use sensor or sensorless motors. Hopefully this will help in the development of the new 1/8 scale brushless class. I have ran both sensored and sensorless (in 1/10 scale) and both worked good. Either way I'm glad Castle is coming out with another product.

I personally would be interested in this ESC if it is possible to run 4S Lipo in a 1/8 scale, running say either the speed passion style motor or the Tekin style motors.
