i have a couple of questions regarding converting my mbx5r to brushless.
what conversion kit worked best for you?
what motor esc combo do like?
all i can have are 3s unless i upgrade my charger,
will this be fine or what about running in series 6s,
can this be done in saddle pack style or is there not room for two batteries.
what about a koyosho center diff? or replacement diff?
any other advise you can pass alone would be appreciated.

I would say for your situation, probably give the Caster Fusion upgrade package a look. This conversion should work on the MBX5R, I got to see one go recently and it worked quite well. It uses dual lipo 1/10 scale pack setup. I was thinking of trying it with 2 3S packs to run 6S in series with a low KV motor . You will probably need the caster mudguards.

I wouldn't recommend 3S pack alone in a conversion. Guys tried this, and it can be done, but you need REALLY high end pack, with a high KV motor, and you are just putting more strain on the electronics and will most likely puff a pack.

For 3S, again, I wouldn't recommend, but you could do the 2650Kv. You would want to use the following to determine gearing, which is about 40mph for race speeds:

Again, I would not do this without a really high end pack if I had to. And by that I would want it easily over 180 amps continous rating as I have heard from others who have used quality cells (6000mah 25C packs) that they puffed them when using a 3S setup with a high KV motor.

If you go 6S, you would want something in the KV range of about 1400Kv.

can i run the current center diff?
i have heard of people swapping that out, not sure why?

yes. mainly swapping the center diff was to use a plastic kyosho spur gear. My MBX5 came with this already done, the guy used a hot bodies diff. At the time, pinions were not hard enough to not get chewed up. They have come ALONG way.
