That's a really bad idea. Never do that if you can avoid it.
Electric motors and ESCs are usually much more efficient at 100% or 0% throttle, than anything in between.
The best alternative course of action would always be to use a higher(I think?) gear ratio (lower pinion or larger spur, or both), if possible. If not, you should use a lower kV motor (but that's also not always easy).
Of course, if you only lower the throttle end point down to 90-95%, it may not be so bad, but it's really only a temporary solution (unless your temps are so low, you don't have to worry about them at all... which is rarely the case in 1/8 ep; you don't have much spare room when it comes to wasting efficiency).
